Roseto Valfortore

Roseto is a small and charming town which takes its name from the dog-rose, a wild flower which is extremely abundant in this territory. Even today, the roses, besides being represented on the coat of arms of the town, they are also cultivated along the main road.

The inhabitants of Roseto are very pleasant and extremely hospitable, the landscape untouched and the food excellent.
Roseto is worth a visit, just as it's worth to ramble through the road that leads you here:

From Lucera you take the provincial road to Biccari-Roseto Valfortore-Alberona. But careful; when you reach Tertiveri, a small town in the Commune of Biccari, you can either choose to come to Roseto following the road that passes from Alberona, or else you might want to try the other road which passes through Biccari.
This latter road is a bit longer but perhaps more beautiful because it passes through a forest of oaks, pines and beech trees before you reach the pass at 900 metres above sea level, from where you can admire all the beauty of the valley of Fortore and on one of the many hills sloping towards the river you will get the first glimpse of Roseto with its old houses.

This is the advice given by the friends responsible for the web site of Roseto, which offers precious advice and information concerning walks in the forests and guided tours.
